The beautifully refurbished and extended Central Library is now open. The historic features have been sensitively restored and transformed, bringing the building up to twenty-first century standards. The library's rare books, special collections and archives contain a wealth of beautiful treasures. We have used some of these designs on a range of cards, mugs, notebooks, fridge magnets, bags, posters and 10x8" mounted prints. These are available to buy at the Central Library shop.

Many of these posters were produced as a result of the Manchester Municipal School of Art's posters competition for Manchester Corporation Transport Department trams and buses between 1933 and 1934. Their unusual shape was designed to fit on the back of the driver's cab. There is also a Ringway Airport publicity poster featuring a map of Britain and a fabulous coloured version of Berry's 1750 map of Manchester and Salford.
